I met you, our eyes met,

I wonder what passed,

And we did connect.

Meeting was difficult, distances great,

I wondered, who cares, we did connect.

My heart all aflutter, I gave in,

To the blossoming warmth within.

Time passed, I thought we grew close,

But, lamentably, time never froze.

In fact, we grew, and grew apart,

I yearned listening to the familiar beatings of your heart.

The banter, the playful teasing,

It’s all coming back, and at my heart gnawing.

I wonder what went wrong,

Was it real, or did my mind just float along?

Today, as you say you love her,

My heart, like a dainty piece of glass, did shatter.

I wonder how long will gathering all the pieces take,

But, congratulations, my core you did manage to shake!
